What to expect

The Guest Experience

Here is exactly what being a BackFocus guest looks like, start to finish. Our goal is simple: make it easy, make it fun, and let your love of the sky shine through.

  1. Reach out

It all starts with a quick application. Tell us who you are, what you do under the night sky, and what you would love to chat about. There is no bar to clear and no perfect resume to send - if you are excited about astronomy, we want to hear from you.

  2. We say hello and find a time

We will get back to you with a warm hello and a link to pick a time that works for your schedule. Each recording window runs about ninety minutes, which gives us plenty of room to settle in and talk at a relaxed pace. No rush, no clock-watching.

  3. Before we record

A little prep goes a long way. A decent microphone or even simple earbuds plus a quiet room will make you sound great. Take a glance at our talking points so nothing feels like a surprise, and gather any photos or links you would like to share - we can feature them in the show notes so listeners can follow your work.

  4. Recording day

Joining is easy. We record in a browser-based studio and send you the link ahead of time, so there is nothing to install. The conversation itself is just that - a conversation. It is low-pressure and friendly, we follow where the chat leads, and we can always pause, gather our thoughts, or retake a moment if you want a do-over. You are in good hands.

  5. After we wrap

Once we finish, we take it from there. We edit the episode, let you know when it is set to air, and share it far and wide. Your episode gets its own page, show notes that link back to you and your work, and shout-outs across our social channels and Discord community. We love sending listeners your way.

Ready?

That is the whole journey. If it sounds like your kind of evening, we would be honored to have you on the show.
